Durant: Antetokounmpo’s ceiling is ‘best player to ever play’

Kevin Durant enjoys watching long, athletic players like himself take the floor in the NBA. Well, they don’t get much longer or more athletic than the multifaceted Giannis Antetokounmpo.

During a Q-and-A session Friday on YouTube, Durant acknowledged "The Greek Freak" as being his favorite player to watch, while offering up the highest of high praise for how great he feels the Milwaukee Bucks wing could end up being,

“The Greek Freak, I think, is a force. I’ve never seen anything like him. His ceiling is … he could end up being the best player to ever play if he really wanted to. That’s pretty scary to think about,” said Durant.

It was last season when Antetokounmpo became just the fifth player in league history (Scottie Pippen, Kevin Garnett, Dave Cowens, and LeBron James) to lead his squad in points, rebounds, assists, steals, and blocks. He also finished in the top 20 overall in all of those categories, becoming the first player ever to do so.

Antetokounmpo's numbers across the board were career highs, averaging 22.9 points, 8.8 boards, 5.4 dimes, 1.6 steals, and 1.9 rejections across 80 appearances for the 42-win Bucks.

Dove Apologizes for Most Ridiculously Racist Ad Ever

Dove is here to say its sorry.

The beauty company came under heavy fire late last week after for posting a Facebook ad in which a “dirty” African-American woman uses a bottle of Dove body wash to transform into a “clean” white woman.

This is very strongly the implication, at least.

dove bottles

In a third image from the ad, the white woman removes her shirt (and skin, we guess) to become an Asian woman.

As you might imagine, more than a small handful of Internet users took issue with this advertisement and its theme.

“This is gross. You think people of color can just wash away their melanin and become white? What were you going for, exactly? Your creative director should be fired,” wrote Angela Reinders on Facebook.

As screen shots of the ad made their way around social media, other confused and angry individuals chimed in.

“Are you joining the Trump administration now? WTF is that ad even supposed to mean?” Sonia Gupta Tweeted at the company.

On Saturday, Dove – which is owned by Dutch-British transnational consumer goods company Unilever – issued an apology on its Twitter account for the advertisement.

The mea culpa reads as follows:

“An image we recently posted on Facebook missed the mark in representing women of color thoughtfully. We deeply regret the offense it caused.”

The company shared a similar message on Facebook:

“Dove is committed to representing the beauty of diversity. In an image we posted this week, we missed the mark in thoughtfully representing women of color and we deeply regret the offense that it has caused.

“The feedback that has been shared is important to us and we’ll use it to guide us in the future.

It’s always confounding when this sort of thing happens because such an ad must have been cleared by a lot of people.

It’s not as if this can be written off by a single bone-headed decision.

dove tweet

This is not the first time Dove has received major race-related backlash for a questionable ad, either.

In 2011, a controversial poster depicted three women standing in front of a wall designated in “before” and “after.”

The “before” woman had dark skin… the woman in between had medium-toned skin … and the woman in front of the “after” photograph was white.

In this case, Dove sought to clarify, not apologize.

“All three women are intended to demonstrate the ‘after’ product benefit. We do not condone any activity or imagery that intentionally insults any audience,” a company statement read at the time.

But the damage has maybe already been done.

“Okay, Dove… One racist ad makes you suspect. Two racist ads makes you kinda guilty,” wrote a Twitter user yesterday, citing each of these ads from the last few years.

Others, meanwhile, remained aghast at the brand’s original intention with last week’s ad, as one person wondered:

“What exactly were yall going for?

“What was the mark . . . I mean anyone with eyes can see how offensive this is. Not one person on your staff objected to this? Wow. Will not be buying your products anymore.”

What do you think of this scandal?

Does Dove deserve all the criticism it is receiving? Will you continue to use their products?

Or is this much ado over not very much?

Jackson 2nd ACC player ever to reach 10,000 career yards prior to senior season

Add another ridiculous accomplishment to Lamar Jackson's resume.

The Louisville quarterback reached 10,000 total yards for his career during Thursday night's game against NC State, becoming just the 7th player in ACC history to do so, and he's quickly climbing up the all-time ranks for the Cardinals.

What’s more impressive is Jackson did it prior to his senior season, making him only the second player in the conference ever to do so, according to David M. Hale of ESPN. Former Clemson star Deshaun Watson is the other.

Keeping Up with the Kardashians Recap: The Worst Ad Ever

On the Season 14 (yes, fourteen) premiere of Keeping Up with the Kardashians last night, Kendall Jenner took heat for that Pepsi commercial.

Meanwhile, Caitlyn dropped a bombshell, and Kim and Kourtney wondered about the newest developments in Khloe’s personal life.

As always, Keeping Up with the Kardashians Season 14 Episode 1 was filmed months ago, so we’re familiar with a lot of these events.

This is our first behind-the-scenes look, however.

If you watch Keeping Up with the Kardashians online, you weren’t introduced to Tristan Thompson for the first time last night.

You already know Khloe has been with the Cleveland Cavaliers star for awhile – and that she’s now expecting their first child.

Still, this was a re-introduction of sorts for the pair.

“It’s a much simpler life and I actually crave it,” Khloe said of the couple’s laid-back relationship. “A lot of cooking and cleaning.”

“We stay home and we watch TV,” he added.

Kim wasn’t a big fan of Khloe changing her life for a man, telling Kourtney behind Khloe’s back that this isn’t the first time, either:

“She does put her whole life on hold for a guy.”

While this was going on, the Kendall Jenner Pepsi ad fallout was in full swing, as the model became the Internet’s target over the spot.

The incredibly tone-deaf spot (above).

Kendall was devastated by the reactions, saying, “It’s a huge company. The people I was following … Michael Jackson’s done it.”

“Britney Spears has done it. Beyoncé has done it. Pink. I trusted everyone. I trusted the teams,” she said of her decision to take part.

“But,” she concedes, “after I saw the reaction and I read what people had to say about it, I most definitely saw what went wrong.”

Kendall never specifically mentioned or explained the reasons why it went “wrong” or people hated the ad, nevertheless kept apologizing:

“I feel really bad that anyone was ever offended … This was taken such a wrong way. … I have no idea how I’m gonna bounce back from it.”

“I would never purposely hurt someone ever. … If I knew this was gonna be the outcome I would have never done something like this.”

Kim advised her to be “real and honest” about and use this as an opportunity to “grow.” Unfortunately, her dad made that more difficult.

Kendall lamented that Caitlyn told the media how the ad was misguided, saying “My dad doesn’t actually know what happened.”

“She wouldn’t know,” the 20-year-old beauty said. “She was not in the works of it and she was not behind-the-scenes with it.”

Speaking of Caitlyn, or more specifically, Caitlyn’s book, Kim was reading it and that opened up the floodgates to a lot of feelings.

Khloe spoke about her estrangement from Caitlyn, lashing out, “It’s not ’cause you’re trans. That’s not why I’m not talking you.”

“It’s because you’re a bad, mean person.”

Harsh, but we see where she comes from.

Kim suggested some deception, too: “Clearly she gave me a different book with everything edited out that she didn’t want us to see.”

She had received an advance copy of the memoir penned by the former Bruce Jenner, but apparently, the final version was quite different.

Even Kris Jenner was taken back by it.

“I never had any idea … I never would have done this to my kids … I’m always the last to know,” she said, echoing a familiar theme.

Finally, Kourt revealed that she still may want to have more children with her sometimes-estranged baby daddy, Scott Disick.

We hope this was secretly filmed two years ago and the editors mixed up the seasons in which it aired, but sadly we doubt it.

Scott, as we know, has been drinking himself stupid for a long time now while rotating through a harem of teenage models.

Not exactly father figure material, and while he’s always displayed these tendencies … it’s surprising Kourtney would say this now.

“I feel like I would if the situation was right. But that doesn’t mean tomorrow,” she said … and really, here’s hoping there is no tomorrow.

For that hypothetical, at least.

Julia Louis-Dreyfus Thanks Fans for Support, Has Coolest Son Ever

Julia Louis-Dreyfus has the love and support of Hollywood, her fans and, most adorably of all, her son.

On Thursday, the record-breaking Emmy Award winner shocked the entertainment industry when she confirmed she’s been diagnosed with breast cancer.

The beloved star learned of this illness the day after she won yet another Lead Actress in a Comedy trophy for her hilarious role on Veep.

“1 in 8 women get breast cancer. Today, I’m the one,” Dreyfus wrote on Twitter, adding a plug for universal health care to her stunning admission:

“The good news is that I have the most glorious group of supportive and caring family and friends, and fantastic insurance through my union.

“The bad news is that not all women are so lucky, so let’s fight all cancers and make universal health care a reality.”

Dreyfus husband Brad Hall have two sons together, one of whom shared a precious tribute to his famous mother one day after the world learned of her diagnosis.

“I couldn’t be more thankful for the outpouring of support for my mom yesterday,” Tweeted Henry Hall, along with a throwback photo that he pretended was taken last year.

“Love to you all,” he concluded.

Responded Dreyfus:

“I’m thankful, too. And also thankful for my dear boy with good manners.”

Sort of wants to make you melt into a million pieces right there on the spot, doesn’t it?

It hasn’t just been her immediate family members who has reached out to Dreyfus, of course.

You’d be hard pressed to find a more respected television actress in Hollywood.

“@OfficialJLD so sorry you have to go thru this, pal, but I know you will prevail. We are here if/when you need and we love you,” Tweeted Jason Alexander, who co-starred for years opposite Dreyfus on Seinfeld.

The legendary actress also received social media support from her Veep cast members Timothy Simons and Diedrich Bader, who play Jonah Ryan and Bill Ericsson, respectively.

“All our prayers for a complete recovery If love is any help at all, know that you are truly loved,” Bader tweeted.

And Simons:

“Julia is one of the most talented, most giving, most empathetic people that I’ve had the pleasure to meet. That she takes this news and turns it to help others is of no surprise. Get well, Boss. We love you.”

Then there was former Vice President Joe Biden, whose real job Dreyfus has pretended to have on HBO for the past six years.

“We Veeps stick together. Jill and I, and all of the Bidens, are with you, Julia,” Biden wrote, along with a photograph of himself and the actress in sunglasses.

Robin Roberts, meanwhile, is one of several celebrities who have overcome her own breast cancer diagnosis. This is what she wrote in response to the news:

Sending love and prayers to @OfficialJLD…this morn @GMA @DebRobertsABC brings us her story and message about facing breast cancer…as support pours in for the beloved actress.

We send our thoughts and prayers to Dreyfus as well.

Joseph Duggar & Kendra Caldwell Endure Most Awkward Date Ever

If you’re a fan of the Duggar family, then by now you’ve probably heard the news that Joseph Duggar and Kendra Caldwell are married.

Relationships evolve rapidly in the Duggars’ world (Tell teenagers they can’t have sex until they’re married and watch how fast they propose.), which means the family’s reality show, Counting On, is just now documenting the early days of Joseph and Kendra’s relationship.

And man, were those ever some awkward days for the lovebirds.

Monday’s episode of Counting On gave fans a look at Joe and Kendra’s first date.

Now, first dates are often nerve-racking affairs, but in the Duggars case they’re doubly so.

For one thing, the luckiest you can get is a good luck “side-hug” (all other forms of physical contact were forbidden to Joseph and Kendra).

On top of that, datin’ Duggars are required to employ the services of chaperones, who usually come from within the family.

Yes, that means you go on a date with a dude, and he brings his younger brothers.

Every. Single. Time.

For their first date, Joseph and Kendra chose to go rollerblading, because apparently it’s still 1992 in Tontitown.

We kid, we kid.

It’s a fun, wholesome activity, and blah, blah, blah.

Besides the decision to go rollerblading doesn’t crack the top 100 on the lost of things that are weird about this date.

They were joined by 16-year-old James Duggar and 13-year-old Jackson Duggar.

Explaining that he considers himself “a professional chaperone,” James filled his younger brother in on their duties:

“The responsibility of a chaperone is to make sure they don’t do things they’re not supposed to do, like …” he began, before trailing off.

It’s then that Jackson chimes in, saying, “I know two of them – no holding hands and no kissing!”

Thankfully, the list ended there.

We don’t think we could endure the awkwardness of a 13-year-old explaining that sexual intercourse is purely for procreation purposes.

Obviously, it all worked out, and it’s currently rumored that Joseph and Kendra are expecting their first child.

But man, that was one awkward first date.

Watch Counting On online for more from reality TV’s most controversial reality show.

Judge becomes 7th Yankee ever to hit 45 HRs in a season

Aaron Judge is now firmly entrenched in New York Yankees royalty.

The rookie slugger continued his remarkable debut campaign Wednesday afternoon by smacking his 45th home run of 2017, a two-run shot off Minnesota’s Bartolo Colon.

With the homer, Judge became only the seventh player in Yankees history to hit at least 45 home runs in a single season. The list of men he joined is indeed a who's who of pinstriped legends: Babe Ruth (nine times), Lou Gehrig (four), Mickey Mantle (twice), Alex Rodriguez (twice), Roger Maris, and Joe DiMaggio.

Judge also knocked in his 100th RBI of the season with the two-run shot, making him the eighth Yankee ever with 100 RBIs, 100 runs scored, and 100 walks in a single season. According to MLB.com, he's just the third rookie to reach those heights, joining Ted Williams in 1939 and Al Rosen in 1950.

Judge is four homers shy of tying Mark McGwire's major-league rookie home-run record that's stood since 1987. He already surpassed Williams' modern-era record for walks by a rookie earlier this summer.

Astros clinch 1st ever AL West title

Houston, we have a division title.

Behind another masterful start from newly acquired Justin Verlander, the Astros sunk the Seattle Mariners, 7-1, Sunday at Minute Maid Park to clinch their first-ever American League West championship, and their first division title since winning the National League Central in 2001.

"Number one priority is to win the division, and we set out that goal right away from the beginning of spring training. We did that," Astros' manager A.J. Hinch told reporters, including MLB.com's Brian McTaggart, from the suds-soaked clubhouse. "You need 11 wins in October to make it even more special. The fact that we could clinch it at home, in front of our home fans – really special feeling for a really special group of guys."

That group of guys slugged four homers in Sunday's series finale – Derek Fisher, Marwin Gonzalez, George Springer, and Carlos Correa each went deep – to provide ample support for Verlander, who allowed just one run, while striking out 10 over seven sublime innings in his Minute Maid Park debut. In three starts with the Astros, Verlander boasts a 0.86 ERA.

“Would you expect anything less? I mean, the story is almost too good to be true,” Hinch said of Verlander. “We trade(d) for him for this exact reason.”

The Astros, alone atop the division since April 14, are now the first team in history to win three different divisions, having earned the National League West title in both 1980 and 1986 before being bumped to the NL Central in 1994. Nearly two decades after that, in 2013, with the commissioner’s office keen to have an equal number of teams in each league and more geographically sensible divisions, the Astros joined the AL West.

With 13 games left on their regular-season schedule, the Astros, 91-58, have to go 11-2 to tie the franchise record for wins set in 1998, when the club – led by Jeff Bagwell, Craig Biggio, and Moises Alou, and bolstered by the late-season addition of Randy Johnson – finished 102-60 and won the NL Central by 12 1/2 games. That year, despite a dominant regular season, the Astros were dispatched in the NLDS in four games by the San Diego Padres.
