Channel Live’s Hakim Green Says He Gave Lil Wayne Tha Carter LP Name

Hakim Green, one half of the 90’s Hip-Hop duo Channel Live best known for their KRS-One assisted hit “Mad Izm,” dropped a bombshell of a trivia item on Hip-Hop heads this week. According to Green, Lil Wayne‘s Tha Carter LP series got the name after the pair met in the early 2000s as detailed by The Source.

The Source exclusively reports:

According to Green, in the year 2003 DJ Drama was in preparation for his mixtape, Gangsta Grillz. Drama wanted Lil Wayne to drop a verse for the mixtape, which caused Wayne a trip to the east coast.

Later in Lil Wayne’s hotel room, Green and Wayne were having a conversation about Wayne’s upcoming project and his stance as a rapper to the east coast. Lil Wayne was on a mission to gain respect from the east coast as an MC. Wayne expressed to the “Mad Izm” rapper that he was struggling to find a name for his upcoming project, his fourth studio album.

At that moment, an idea that Green had for JAY-Z, who was a megastar rapper at the time, started to make more sense for Wayne to consider. On top of that, it was very unlikely for him to ship this idea to Hov. Luckily, the idea was also a perfect fit for Wayne. Green suggested Wayne name his fourth studio album, Tha Carter, due to the fact he was signed to Cash Money Records, a record label founded by a pair of brothers, and being that in the movie New Jack City, Nino Brown and his brothers, Cash Money Brothers sold their narcotics out of the carter. Wayne thought the idea was perfect for his vision. Green nor Wayne foresaw the probable success of Tha Carter turning into an album series.

Green tells the outlet that he’s proud to be a part of the New Orleans superstar’s Hip-Hop legacy.

Rick Ross Threatens Birdman Via Snapchat, Tells Him To Pay Lil Wayne

Rick Ross has been quite firm in standing up for his friend, Lil Wayne, and the ongoing dispute the Young Money captain has with Cash Money Records honcho, Brian “Birdman” Williams. The Maybach Music Group boss took to Snapchat to firmly check Birdman with demands he gives Weezy owed monies, all while throwing a veiled threat in the mix too.

“Boy, you a year late, and five years late paying that man his money. Pay that man his money,” Ross in the short clip. “We know you ain’t right. Stop with the jokes, n*gga. Bring that sh*t.”

The clip switches to Ross pointing the phone camera to a blue sky where he said, “that’s what’s so beautiful about life, ain’t no ceilings. You go far as you want to go. Have no fear. All that talking sh*t, all that sh*t don’t work around here, baby. We’ll put you in check, n*gga, We’ll put you somewhere else.”

Watch Rick Ross giving Birdman that verbal smoke in the clip below. Hopefully, this doesn’t escalate past talk.

Lillard, aka Dame D.O.L.L.A., previews new single featuring Lil Wayne

With NBA players starting to ramp up their preparations for the season, Damian Lillard is looking to put a bow on his offseason project.

The Trail Blazers star, also known as rapper Dame D.O.L.L.A., is set to release his new project "CONFIRMED" Oct. 6.

But before the entire album drops next month, the multi-threat entertainer gave fans a taste of what's to come with a major collaboration with rap royalty, teaming up with Lil Wayne on his lead single "Run It Up," which was previewed on "Sway in the Morning" on Wednesday.

Lillard’s debut album, “The Letter O,” was released a year ago and garnered acclaim atypical for an athlete-turned-rapper project. That album also featured a guest spot by Lil Wayne, as well as Jamie Foxx, and reached 119 on the Billboard 200.

Lil Wayne Hospitalized In Chicago After Seizures, Vegas Show Canceled

Lil Wayne suffered yet another health scare after he was found unconscious in his hotel room in Chicago over the weekend. The Young Money’s battle with epilepsy led to his hospitalization, leading to the canceling over this upcoming Las Vegas date.

TMZ reports:

Lil Wayne was hospitalized yet again this weekend for his ongoing bout with epilepsy and the seizures that come with it, TMZ has learned, and this time it might have torpedoed Sunday night’s Vegas gig.

Multiple sources tell us Wayne was hospitalized Sunday in Chicago after he was found unconscious in his hotel room at the Westin on Michigan Avenue after suffering at least one seizure.

He was rushed to Northwestern Memorial, where we’re told he suffered yet another seizure. Our sources say his team tried to have him discharged late Sunday afternoon so he could make it to his Vegas show.

However, doctors advised against the discharge, saying he should be grounded for a few days. Wayne has suffered seizures while flying before, and the doctors felt it was too risky. He very well may still be at the hospital.

The New Orleans rap superstar has been hospitalized for seizures in times past with many speculating the Weezy’s partying lifestyle had much to do with it but he denied that rumor last year. Whatever the case, let’s hope the Young Moolah boss recovers quickly.
